History
Founded in 2014 by Brit Kleinman, AVO is an artist led design studio born out of an insatiable curiosity for learning and an unwavering passion for experimentation. Brit and her team fearlessly embrace new possibilities, continuously challenging the limitations of the materials they work with. Brit believes that our experience of a space is profoundly influenced by the architecture, objects, and materials within. Leveraging these elements in her work, she aims to activate the viewer's senses, creating a heightened presence within their environment.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Brit was surrounded by painting and textiles from a young age. She honed her skills studying industrial design at RISD and designing for companies such as Casper, Shinola, Jack Spade, Timberland, DSNY and Samsonite. With over fifteen years of experience in the field, Brit brings a wide breadth of knowledge to AVO, consistently collaborating with clients who seek innovative ideas for their spaces.

Since its inception in 2014, AVO has become synonymous with exceptional hand-dyed leather, rugs, upholstery, weavings, and art installations. AVO excels in designing and crafting pieces for residential and commercial projects, ranging from intricate objects to bespoke site-specific commissions. The studio's work has garnered widespread recognition from prestigious publications including The New York Times, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Surface, and Business of Home.
AVO is female founded and operated. We take immense pride in making our products in the United states with fellow craftspeople and experts in the field. The AVO workshop is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which gives us an incredible glimpse into where NYC has been and where it is heading.

History
Brit Kleinman founded AVO in 2014, with a simple passion for experimentation and a drive to spark curiosity in the world around us. She is a designer by trade and maker at heart. She believes that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with tell our story.
Like the clothes we choose to wear, the pieces in our home bring our values and personality to life. This is what prompted AVO to innovate with materials and offer hand crafted pieces that bring interiors to life.
We specialize in hand dyed leather, woven rugs, tapestries, surfaces and art installations for interiors. Our designs have fearless patterns, cultivated colors and sensual textures.

The AVO workshop is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which gives us an incredible glimpse into where NYC has been and where it is heading.
Our studio has the expertise and experience to execute residential and commercial projects at many scales, including large, site-specific commissions. We design, prototype and hand dye our products in-house. We are one of only female founded and women run companies in this space and we take pride in making our products in the United states with fellow craftspeople and experts in the field.
